Agricultural Wells in the Texas Hill Country.
Ag wells are sized different. We drill and equip wells for cattle, vineyards, hay irrigation, and large-acreage ranches — bigger pumps, bigger tanks, and proper electrical for sustained loads.
Sound familiar?
- Cattle or livestock above 5–10 head
- Hay or pasture irrigation needs
- Vineyard, orchard, or organized food production
- Adding ag use to a house-sized well that is now strained
- Long-run ranch infrastructure with multiple draw points
Our agricultural wells process.
- 01
Demand calculation
Cattle: 15 gal/day baseline, 25–30 in summer. Horses: 10–15 gal/day. Hay: 25–50 GPM continuous. We calculate peak GPM and total daily gallons before sizing anything.
- 02
Yield-first drilling
Ag wells need proven yield before commitment to the pump. We bail and drawdown-test before equipping the well. If the formation does not produce what you need, you find out before spending on a 30 GPM pump.
- 03
Pump & storage system
Ag-sized pump (20–40 GPM), buffer storage (1,500–5,000 gal), separate booster for irrigation, and 50–60 amp dedicated electrical service.
- 04
Tie-in & testing
Trough lines, irrigation manifolds, and household feeds tied in with isolation valves. Tested under simultaneous peak load.
What sets our agricultural wells apart.
The Hill Country is full of crews who can pull a pump or drill a hole. The difference is in the diagnosis, the documentation, and the materials. We do all three to a different standard.

Hill Country homeowners on the work.
“We built on raw acreage outside Stonewall and the first crew we called gave us a quote that didn’t include casing. Hill Country Well & Pump walked the property, pulled regional reports, and gave us a real number. The job came in on time and on quote — no surprises.”
“Pump quit on a Friday afternoon. They responded fast, were on site the next morning, and had us back up by lunch. Honest — they told us the real problem and didn’t try to sell us anything we didn’t need.”
“I run cattle on our property and the well had been getting weaker for years. They drilled a proper replacement, sized the system for the herd, and threw in a buffer tank I didn’t know I needed. Couldn’t be happier with the result.”

A working cow needs about 15 gal/day. We size for peak summer demand plus 30%, with storage to ride through pump cycles.
